Giovanni's Island is closing film at the 4th Sakhalin International Film Festival

Mizuho Nishikubo's new animated feature film, Giovanni's Island has been invited as closing film at the 4th Sakhalin International Film Festival (SIFF 2014), to be held in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Russia, from August 22 to 29, 2014. Giovanni's Island is partially set in the island of Sakhalin, in the city of Kholmsk, at the time known by the Japanese as Maoka. Director Nishikubo will be attending the screening and the Q&A session that will follow.

Started in 2011, the Sakhalin International Film Festival "On the Edge" aims to provide a platform for Asian and Western cultures to meet and interact with each other, create an opportunity for the public to meet with elites from the West and the East, and seek common grounds between high technology and rich traditions.
